Jan Teo leaves BRB
Birmingham Royal Ballet’s chief executive Jan Teo has stepped down, and has been replaced interim by Caroline Miller, former executive director of Orlando Ballet.
She stepped up from being a board member to running the business in 2015, and leaves as a new chairman is being appointed to succeed Professor Michael Clarke, and in David Bintley’s last season as director.
She joined with a brief to change the business model of the BRB, and there is now a focus on new audiences, better relationships with touring venues and a new strategic relationship with the Royal Albert Hall. The company has also secured ACE portfolio funding for the next four years.
“Jan has achieved a significant amount and made changes that will provide BRB with new showcases and commercial opportunities for years to come” said Clarke. “She has brought strong business focus to BRB and, in an increasingly challenging landscape for the arts, has laid the foundations for a complete transformation of the way in which we manage and run the organisation.”
