Ludus dance promotes Briggs

Artistic director takes on ceo role

Lancashire dance company Ludus Dance has appointed Anthony Briggs as its new artistic director & chief executive.

Briggs steps up from his previous role as artistic producer and artistic director at the company, which he joined as dance development artist in 2012. Previously he worked for Qdos Dance Theatre in Barnsley, Burnley Youth Theatre, Burnley Council and Burnley College as a specialist in projects for disadvantaged young people

The company, founded in 1975, is an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation and works especially with children and young people who are marginalised, isolated, at risk or underprivileged.

“Ludus Dance has a strong heritage in the arts, dance and in the community,” said Briggs “and I am proud to build on this 40 plus year legacy, as we continue our work with a wide variety of people, partners and communities to support personal, social and cultural wellbeing. The arts change lives. Dance changed my life and I dread to think where I would be now without it.”
