Peckham artist Remi Rough has created a new public art installation to welcome visitors to the transformed Wembley Park this summer www.wembleypark.com.
Flightwas commissioned to kick off the Summer of Play at the park, part of a £3bn investment in Wembley Park and part of the cultural strategy for Brent, recently named London Borough of Culture for 2020, for the 85-acre redevelopment which, as well as 7,500 new homes, will include a theatre, affordable artists’ studios and a public art programme.
“Wembley Park is an exciting place undergoing huge transformation” Rough said. “You quickly get a sense of it being a very dynamic and creative place, and I wanted this work to reflect and enhance this. I wanted Flight to be a containment of movement so that people can enjoy the experience simply by being within the installation, but not feel the need to only look at it in its entirety.”
The Summer of Play will include music, film, movement (including parkour), craft workshops and design.
