Fed pulls out of Labour event
The Creative Industries Federation has withdrawn from an election event with Jeremy Corbin because the Labour Party would not commit as much time to the event as the other major parties.
Following the appearance of the Tories’ Matt Hancock, the culture minister, on Wednesday, the Labour leader and arts spokesman Tom Watson were to taken part in a similar event on Monday in Hull.
“As Labour informed us that they were no longer able to devote a similar amount of time to questioning as the other parties have agreed to, we invited them to reconsider” said CIF chief executive John Kampfner. “When we could not agree, we had no choice but to pull out of the event.”
Similar events with the Liberal Democrats on Tuesday and the Scottish National Party on Friday are expected to go ahead.
