The University of Leicester’s Attenborough Arts Centre, with New Art Exchange, Nottingham, hosts an exhibition of Faiza Butt’s work, Paracosm, which explores the artist’s rich collection of work ranging from drawings to digital prints and sculptural installation. Butt’s practice is rooted in the traditional craft of Indian miniature painting and the social-political context of Pakistan where she
was born and educated. she produces works with felt tip pens and enamel paint that are obsessively crafted and hover somewhere between photography and embroidery. Paracosm runs until December 18.



DanceEast is presenting some of the best new contemporary dance at their Ipswich base and increasingly in other venues throughout Suffolk. This autumn sees world premieres at Snape Maltings Concert Hall and Orford Church. Britten Dances, a weekend of music and dance in partnership with Aldeburgh Music on 21 - 22 October, will celebrate the work of Benjamin Britten and feature new dance commissions by Richard Alston (whose Phaedra is pictured) and Joseph Toonga.



Mind The Gap’s latest production Daughters of Fortune/Mia explores the truths and myths about learning disability and parenthood in today’s society. Featuring pop culture with popcorn, science with silliness and stories with statistics, the show is created and directed by Joyce Nga Yu Lee and performed by four learning-disabled artists. Currently on a national tour, it is on at the Lowry in Salford on November 1 and 2.


The Royal West of England holds its 164th annual open exhibition in Bristol between October 9 and November 27, featuring invited artists Susan Derges and Tim Shaw RA. This showcase of well-known and undiscovered talent will feature painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture and illustration and has attracted more than 2,300 submissions from over 1000 artists.
