Kerry Bishop leaves Frieze for ICA

Kerry Bishop, chief operating officer at Frieze since 2013, is leaving to become managing director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts.

The task she takes up on September 4 will be to implement the strategic vision for the ICA devised by director Stefan Kalmár since his arrival two years ago.

At Frieze Bishop, pictured, was in operational charge of its activities, including the recent launch of Frieze Los Angeles. Before that she worked in architecture and interior design.

Since 2017 the ICA has undergone changes in management and governance with new heads of most departments, and new board appointments including Wolfgang Tillmans and Francesca Thyssen-Bornemisza.

The ICA has extended its exhibitions programme under Kalmár and reinstated its programme of music and theatre commissions, as well as debate which last year featured the trans activist Chelsea Manning.
