V&A Dundee’s director moves on

Philip Long, director V&A Dundee since 2011 opening it in September 2018, is to be the next director of National Trust Scotland.

He said National Trust Scotland , which manages or owns about 130 properties, was invaluable to the nation. "The buildings and landscape in its care, which it makes accessible to millions of visitors every year, are truly world-class, defining our country's heritage, culture and identity at its most outstanding" he said.

Sir Mark Jones, chairman of the National Trust for Scotland and former director of the V&A who initiated the Dundee scheme, said: "Mr Long has formidable knowledge of collections and exhibitions, which I am sure will be put to good use as we seek to make our properties more engaging and accessible to more people".

V&A Dundee welcomed its millionth visitor 500 days after it opened. Long, who was made an OBE in the last New Year Honours list, will succeed Simon Skinner in July.
