Rocca to be LPO’s artistic director

Cristina Rocca is to be the artistic director of the London Philharmonic Orchestra in the new management set up at the ensemble.

The LPO’s recast management follows the retirement earlier this year of Timothy Walker and Bologna-born Rocca, currently vice president for artistic planning at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, joins the new CEO David Burke in November and principal conductor designate Edward Gardner when he succeeds Vladimir Jurowski in September next year.
