Alan Davey to chair Trinity Laban

The Controller of BBC Radio 3, Alan Davey, is the new chairman of Trinity Laban, the music and dance conservatoire.

Davey, 59, is a former chief executive of Arts Council England and was a career civil servant before joining ACE in 2007, leading it until 2015 when he took over at Radio 3. He succeed sthe interim chair, Geoffrey Copland, who took over when Harriet Harman stood down in November 2019.

“I have long admired the innovation and creativity I have seen from Trinity Laban, its students and alumni” he said. “It is a place that creates opportunity for students from all backgrounds and across the globe and works with them to shape the future of music and dance.

“Arts and higher education have never been more important and I am looking forward to working with Trinity Laban to build on our success as a truly diverse, inclusive and excellent institution where great work can be done.”
