Post-Covid recovery help – first deadline approaching
Arts Council England’s first deadline for applications to the £500m Culture Recovery Fund: Grants programme, parts of the government’s £1.57bn arts rescue package, is this Friday, August 21.
Organisations at risk of no longer being able to trade viably by the end of this financial year can apply for a grant from the fund of between £50,000 and £3m. It is open to all arts and cultural organisations, charitable and non-profit organisations as well as private organisations and commercial for-profit ventures – unlike ACE’s previous £60m emergency response package as long as they are properly constituted. £2.25 million has already been allocated to provide immediate emergency support for grassroots music venues.
ACE is eager for as many types of arts organisations as possible to be aware of the opportunity and have released a video here to help, and there is further guidance here. ACE is expecting to allocated about three-quarters of the fund in the first round, the deadline for which is midday on August 21,and round two will open at 4pm on August 21 with a deadline of 12 noon on September 4.
Organisations that need more than the £3m limit placed on these grants can apply for a loan from a £270m fund. Loans are expected to made on a long term basis of 20 years at a generous rate of about 2% interest, and organisations can either apply for a grant or a loan, but not both. Applications are welcome from midday on August 21 and the deadline is noon on September 9.
