Kapoor’s ‘Glow for Maggie’
The sculptor Anish Kapoor has created a a new print in hopes of raising £750,000 for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres.
The print, Glow for Maggie, can be bought online for £5,000 in a limited edition of 150.
The charity was founded by Maggie Keswick Jenks, wife of the architect Charles Jenks, and she died herself of cancer 25 years ago. Since then 23 centres have been built across the UK and three abroad.
“Maggie’s does such important work for those with cancer across the UK, particularly crucial in the wake of the Covid pandemic” Kapoor said. “Perhaps everyone who buys a print can feel as I do that we can help by working together.”
The initiative follows a successful auction in aid of Maggie’s in which artists and architects donated works of art, and Kapoor responded to a suggestion to make a dedicated piece by former National Portrait Gallery director Sandy Nairne.
Glow for Maggie, 2020, is a polymer gravure type etching with the image debossed and with a border (image size 23 x 29 cm, on paper size 33 x 40 cm). They are published by Anish Kapoor Studio, available to buy online with all sale proceeds going to Maggie’s. Download Sales information here.
