Collins gets new No 2 role at Opera North

David Collins, Opera North’s director of external affairs since 2016, has been promoted to the new role of executive director, answering to the CEO Richard Mantle.

The new post, the company said today, would strengthen its leadership team as Opera North returns to a full prograrmme of activity after the completion of the £18m expansion of its headquarters next to Leeds Grand Theatre in the city centre.

Mantle said Collins would build on the significant contribution he had made as director of external affairs since moving five years ago from being head of marketing at the RSC. “During his tenure he has become a valued colleague and has provided crucial leadership in marketing, revenue generation and fundraising, not least steering the £18 million Music Works fundraising campaign to transform our estate and operations, while retaining a clear focus on the company’s engagement with audiences and communities” Mantle said.
