Lucy Davies to leave Court for Young Vic

Lucy Davies, the Royal Court’s executive director, is to leave in the spring to take up the same role at the Young Vic.

Succeeding Despina Tsatsas who left in November, she will work alongside artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah.

"This is an irresistible new journey, new partnership, new work family and new home” she said. “The Young Vic is everything that matters - values-led, with a strong sense of purpose, and immense artistic, international and commercial flair. With Kwame the Young Vic is open and ready for the possibilities and shifts that the years ahead will inspire. I will bring all of my heart, thought, spirit and energy to that adventure.”

Kwei-Armah said of Davies: “We are truly blessed and honoured to have Lucy join the Young Vic team. She is a person of immense talent and skill, who I have long admired. I am incredibly excited to work alongside her, to benefit from her insight, guidance and brilliance.”

Davies joined the Royal Court in 2013 from National Theatre Wales which she launched with artistic director John McGrath in 2009. Before that she had been at the Donmar Warehouse having started her career with Kneehigh Theatre as an assistant director.
