Perricone to chair Northern Ballet

The Royal Academy of Dance’s chairman is to switch allegiances to become chair of Northern Ballet.

A former investment banker Guy Perricone raised almost £20m at the RAD to relocate it to Battersea. He has also been managing director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts and CEO of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. He succeeds Sir David Wootten.

“I am excited that Guy will bring his considerable knowledge and experience to bear, and I look forward to working with him as he contributes to the bright future of our vibrant company” said Northern Ballet’s artistic director Federico Bonelli, who succeeded David Nixon this spring.

Based in Leeds Northern Ballet was founded in 1969 and takes its inspiration from literature opera and the classics.  In 2019 it launched its digital dance platform to give wider access to its work more people can access their work, from full-length films of popular ballets through to short dance films by up-and-coming choreographers and filmmakers (digitaldance.org).
