Sadler’s Wells appoints Britannia Morton as joint-CEO

Britannia Morton has been appointed the first female CEO of Sadler’s Wells since its founder, Lilian Baylis.

She will share the post with the current CEO and artistic director, Alistair Spalding. She joined the venue in 2010 and latterly has been executive director as which she has led the planning for Sadler’s Wells East which opens next year in the East Bank cultural development at Stratford East. Previously she worked at the Southbank Centre, the Barbican Centre and the Royal Albert Hall.

"This new position reflects the expanded activity of Sadler’s Wells as we open our East Bank venue” said Nigel Higgins, Sadler’s Wells’ chair, “and we know that with Alistair’s artistic vision and Britannia’s energy and wide venue experience, we are in great hands as we enter this exciting new chapter."
