Helen Wallace joins Barbican as head of music
Helen Wallace, the former editor of BBC Music, is to be the next head of music at the Barbican Centre.
Currently executive and artistic director at Kings Place, she will take up her new duties in February.
After a career in music journalism Wallace joined Kings Place in 2009 and has won several awards there for innovative programming, brokering new relationships with artistic partners and inviting curators from under-represented backgrounds to contribute.
“Throughout her career Helen has demonstrated immense creativity, passion and love for music, not to mention a deep knowledge and dedication to presenting both outstanding performances as well as platforming emerging and underrepresented artists” said Claire Spencer, the Barbican’s CEO. “Helen's track record of reaching new audiences with pioneering programming make her a perfect.”
