Seabright takes over at Horniman

Gordon Seabright, head if the Creative Land Trust, is to be the next chief executive of the Horniman Museum in South London. He will succeed Nick Merriman, who has become CEO of English Heritage, in July.

The Creative Land Trust helps find workspace for artists and makers, and Seabright has been CEO since 2020 having previously led the Eden Project and before that Cycling UK.

He joins as the Horniman starts its Merriman-instigated two-year capital project to redisplay the museum’s natural history galleries  and create new visitor attractions in Horniman Gardens.

‘The Horniman is at the heart of the community in Forest Hill, but our relationships and reach are global” said chairman Michael Salter-Church. “Gordon will help us capitalise on this sense of ‘place’ as well as attracting new visitors to see and learn about how human culture, ecology and the environment work together.”
