V&A deputy returns to head English Heritage
Tim Reeve, currently deputy director and chief operating officer at the V&A, is to be the new CEO of English Heritage (EH), succeeding interim CEO Geoff Parkin.
He takes over an organisation originally created in 1983 but 11 years ago was split into two and made a charity, the other half being Historic England. EH manages more than 400 historic sites – the National Heritage Collection - including Stonehenge, Kenwood in Hampstead and the Roman Fort at Hadrian’s Wall.
Reeve started his career at EH in 1996 as a registry assistant, rising to director of historic properties between 2005 and 2013. He joined the V&A and has overseen the creation of the V&A East Museum and Storehouse, and during his tenure the V&A was twice Art Fund Museum of the Year.
“The National Heritage Collection offers unparalleled opportunities for escape, discovery, connection and fun” he said. “These are places where lifelong memories are made, and where England's history, culture and values come vividly to life. Caring for what I like to call the great outdoor museum of the nation’s story has never been more important.”
